The Women in Transport – EU Platform for Change was launched in November 2017 during a Women in Transport Conference, following a call from participants to establish a dedicated forum for transport stakeholders to exchange best practices and information. The Platform’s core objective is to promote women’s employment and ensure equal opportunities for both women and men across the transport sector.
The Women in Transport Activity Report for 2023-2024 outlines the Platform’s activities during these two years and was prepared in line with Chapter 3 of the Platform’s rules of procedure. During this period, four new actions were launched, bringing the total number of actions initiated to 26.
Highlights of recent activity:
- EVBox – Women’s Employee Resource Group (ERG) Pilot Mentoring Programme
EVBox has launched a pilot mentoring programme through its Women’s Employee Resource Group to support female staff development. Led by the People Development Team, the initiative aims to boost inclusion, career growth, and peer support within the company. - Women@CFL – Holistic and sector-specific approach to support gender equality and gender diversity in Luxembourg’s railways
The CFL Group launched the Women@CFL initiative to enhance gender equality and diversity within its predominantly male workforce. Implemented measures feature inclusive job postings, showcasing female employees, and support for parental leave and childcare. - EUROCONTROL – Development of a toolkit for deploying DEI activities in aviation organisations, with a specific focus on ATM
EUROCONTROL has developed a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Toolkit to support aviation organisations, particularly in Air Traffic Management (ATM), in implementing inclusive practices. The toolkit offers practical guidance on engagement, partnerships, data utilisation, learning programmes, certification mapping, and communication strategies. - Ellas Vuelan Alto – Promoting Gender Equality in Aerospace
Founded in 2018 by women in Spain’s aerospace sector, Ellas Vuelan Alto (EVA) is dedicated to advancing gender equality across the industry. The association increases the visibility of women’s contributions and advocates for equal opportunities, aligning with the principles of the United Nations Charter on equality.
The Women in Transport platform is a strong example of ongoing efforts to create equal and inclusive environments for all - an objective celebrated during European Diversity Month this May.
